How To Change A Brake Hose - Step By Step Guide
- Locate the brake hose you need to replace. It is typically a rubber hose that runs from the brake caliper or wheel cylinder to the metal brake line.
- Jack up the car and remove the wheel to access the brake caliper or wheel cylinder.
- Use a wrench to loosen the fitting on the brake caliper or wheel cylinder that secures the brake hose in place. Be sure to hold onto the brake line so it does not rotate as you loosen the fitting.
- Once the fitting is loose, use a pair of pliers to gently pull the brake hose out of the fitting.
- Remove the old brake hose from the vehicle by loosening any retaining bolts or clamps that hold it in place.
- Take the new brake hose and attach one end to the brake caliper or wheel cylinder using the same process you used to remove the old hose. Be sure to tighten the fitting securely, but be careful not to overtighten it.
- Route the other end of the new hose to the appropriate location and secure it in place with any retaining bolts or clamps.
- Once the new hose is installed we always recommend to bleed the brake system.
- Once you have bled the brake system, lower the car and test the brakes to ensure they are working properly.
